ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Plovdiv. Ancient and eternal. The second largest city in Bulgaria and cultural heart of the country. The Young Wine Parade Festival is an experience not to be missed. With over 25 winemakers and thousands of visitors, it is truly a spectacular event that brings the art of wine making, the most notable winemakers from all over the country, Bulgarian cuisine and folklore music to the table. The Old Town of Plovdiv is the breathtaking setting for this annual event that continues to grow better each year. Visit Plovdiv for the weekend, taste quality young wines that have yet to be released on the market and take the opportunity to explore cultural heritage sites in the region while you are here.

The Young Wine Parade festival is an annual event that takes place in the Old Town of Plovdiv. It is organized by the Tourism Council of Plovdiv and Municipality of Plovdiv in cooperation with the National Vine and Wine Chamber, Municipal Institute “Ancient Plovdiv”, the Association of Bulgarian Winemakers, the European Knight Order of Wine and the Municipal Enterprise Tourism – Plovdiv. Winemakers from all over the country gather to present their young wines to the public. The winemakers set up stands in the various houses and open spaces in the charming Old Plovdiv. Tokens for walk around wine tastings are sold at designated ticket stands. The aim of the event is to promote young Bulgarian wines, showcase the uniqueness of Old Town Plovdiv and attract more visitors to the city of Plovdiv. See the map of the wine stands participating in the Young Wine Parade 2016 here.

THE VENUE – OLD PLOVDIV

The festival will take place in Old Town Plovdiv. The winemaker stands will be spread out in various old houses and in open spaces. The Old Town is enchanting. Cobbled streets, timber—framed 18-19 century houses in national revival architecture, hotels and hostels, museums, restaurants serving up Bulgarian food and rakia (the local brandy), Roman ruins including the magnificent Ancient Roman Theatre… there is much to see and do, but more importantly, it is the perfect setting for the Young Wine Parade Festival.

FOOD

Enjoy delicious samples of Bulgarian delicacies. Food stands will be located at the open spaces of the outdoor venue. Old Town Plovdiv boasts many excellent restaurants for those who need a hearty Bulgarian meal after the winetasting.
