Borovitsa

Borovitsa Winery is situated in the village of Borovitsa located close to the town of Belogradchik, the ‘Kaleto’ fortress in the rocks, the ‘Magura’ cave and the impressive Belogradchik rock formations. The winery is the brainchild of Dr Ognyan “Ogi” Tzvetanov and Adriana Srebrinova. The boutique winery is oriented toward highlighting the regional terrior in their wines and produces limited volumes of wine (sometimes as little as 250-400 bottles in a series). The major varieties grown are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Gamza, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The winery also owns vineyards planted with grape varieties like Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, and Gamet Noir. Unique points about this winery are the vineyards located amid the stunning Belogradchik rocks, a top-quality sparkling wine production and a very convincing orange wine.

Magura

Established in 1967, Magura winery is an old and very well-known winery. Across Bulgaria, Magura Winery is known for its sparkling wines. The location of the winery is unique and mysterious as it is located in and around the Magura cave. The Magura cave is one of the largest and most beautiful caves in Bulgaria but what makes the cave exceptionally special are the prehistoric cave paintings that have been found on the walls. The cave is estimated to have started forming about 15 million years ago. The naturally cool temperature in the cave makes it a perfect place for ageing of wines. A tasting in the Magura Cave Winery is an experience that will stay with you forever. Guaranteed.
